Free to be me

Welcome to your life …

Perhaps you are living in a fog, going through the motions, waiting for something down the road to happen and the haze to lift. Another day, another year, another pay check, when this is done, when that is finished, when there’s time, while all along something else is waiting to plant itself in your way. The thing is to plant yourself, stand right where you are, take a good look around, and say “This is My Life … I am going to live it. Now … No compromises … Free to be me”. Jump up and down, shake your fist at the sky, stake your claim. “This is My Life … I am going to live it. Now”. Say it until you feel it. Look around you and claim what you have. “I love my house, I love my family, I love my job, I love my friends, I love my life”. If you can’t say this, if the words just won’t make it out of your mouth, then reach out for the things you do love, and claim them. Claim them all. Gather them up and bring them to you your heart, hug them so tight like you’ll never let them go. Carry them around with you all day, no matter where you are or what you are doing. All day long, claim more of them, until they spill out of your arms, they are so full. Sing a song at the top of your lungs, blast your music, feel the wind in your hair, put a skip in your step, look at the world in a different way. “This is My Life … I am going to live it. Now.”

On your way …

What is your way anyway? Do you even know your way? My way or the highway, but in life how often do we pick the highway? The high way, the way of compromise, the way of backing down to others wills. So now we’re in our own way, by way of the agreements we have made to live another person’s way, to get out of their way, to be a person who we are not. We can talk ourselves into this way not being that bad, while parts of us gradually start to shrink or to shriek. To double, double toil and trouble; fire burn, and cauldron bubble. Let me out of here, we rail against our self made dying of the light. Take a hammer and let the light shine in, we are in here, full of life, full of will, now will the light in and feel its warmth, feel it fill us from the inside. Then throw out the nails and the boards, don’t let anyone cover over that chink, the chink in your armour is your way: out. Make it bigger, stretch it so big you can step up and out of it, and as you step out, see the world with a new set of eyes.
